Yousef Liang

Yousef Liang is a Ph.D. student in the Autonomous Systems Lab (ASL) at Stanford University, advised by Professor Marco Pavone. His research focuses on embodied AI for autonomous robots, with an emphasis on reinforcement learning and decision-making under partial observability. He develops theory-motivated, learning-based methods that enable robots to perceive, reason, and adapt autonomously in complex real-world environments for navigation and loco-manipulation.

Before starting his Ph.D., Yousef completed an M.S. in Computer Science with the Artificial Intelligence specialization at Stanford. During his master's, he conducted research under the supervision of Professor Marco Pavone and Dr. Jonas Frey, in collaboration with Professor Shankar Sastry and Professor Claire Tomlin at UC Berkeley. His research developed memory and belief representations for long-horizon legged robot navigation, enabling autonomous robots to integrate and reason over information across space and time beyond their immediate observations.
